Yorkshire’s latest art gallery, the Hepworth Wakefield, has proved extremely popular and has seen over 100,000 visitors in first five weeks of being open.
The number of visitors is much higher than originally expected and the museum chiefs are now expecting to well exceed their first year target of 150,000. They only need another 50,000 to do so after all.
The 100,000th visitor to the gallery, Michael Slater, who was visiting with his wife has won a year’s membership and goody bag of prizes.
The gallery has seen people from as far as Japan and Australia visit who will contribute to an estimated £2million worth of income for the local economy.
Whilst the Hepworth Wakefield isn’t included with the Yorkshire Pass, you will get free entry to many top Yorkshire and York attractions including other art attractions including the Quilt Museum and Gallery.
