Exciting news for the Yorkshire Air Museum, its appearing on tonight’s, May 4th, One Show on BBC1!
The filming, that took place at the famous Yorkshire attraction early on back in April, will focus on incredible inventions attributed to others but actually invented in Britain. The tie with the Yorkshire Air Museum is Sir George Cayley and his lesser know glider invention which, back in 1853 at a location near Scarborough, was the first aeroplane capable of carrying a man to achieve flight, as opposed to the common notion that it was the Wright Brothers who were the first to achieve this.
The piece in the One Show will feature a re-enactment of this flight by engineers from BAE Systems using the replica glider which was previously flown by Sir Richard Branson to celebrate the 150th anniversary of its maiden flight.
The Yorkshire Air Museum is just one of many attractions around Yorkshire and you can visit other similar York Attractions with your Yorkshire Pass.
