The York Model Railway Show returns this year for its 49th outing, running the 23rd-25th of April at the York Racecourse.
The show usually aims for around 120 stands and about 40 working displays, these include:
Layouts in several scales, everything from 7mm/0 Gauge to the larger size 16mm scale/32mm gauge. The layouts themselves are incredibly detailed and provide excellent examples of what can be achieved by modellers.
The show will include demonstrations by well known modellers, providing valuable insights into the hobby and information for those still learning. If you’re struggling with realism for your layouts come see the ‘Making Trees’ or ‘Buildings’ demo, for the trains themselves there’s ‘Painting & Lining’ or if your looking for something different have a look at ‘Modelling in Larger Scales’.
Along with the above there are also the usual static displays and featured stands by specialist societies.
The event takes place in the Knavesmire Stand; it’s a modern venue with good disabled access and quality catering. If visiting by car there’s free car parking available for 800 cars.
A day out to this attraction would be a great part of a weekend in York where you can visit other York Attractions with your Yorkshire Pass. Please note entry to this event is not included with your pass.
