TV Show The Dales boosts visitor numbers to Yorkshire

    Adrian Edmondson on the DalesThe hit ITV show “The Dales” is said to have boosted visitor numbers to Yorkshire and, more specifically, the Yorkshire Dales.

    April figures from Welcome to Yorkshire show that self catering accommodation numbers are up from last year and visitor numbers to attractions in the area are up a massive 35% compared to last year. The tourist board are said to have played a vital role in the making of the series.

    The 12 part series started in March and stars Bradford born Adrian Edmondson as he explores the Dales and the people who live there. Viewing figures are said to average 4 million a week and the show has been nominated for best factual entertainment series at the TV choice awards.
    The last episode of the series will be shown on the 13th of June.

    No doubt the recent popularity of the area has also helped nearby Yorkshire attractions, including Thorton Hall Farm Country Park, Skipton Castle and Middleham Castle which are all free to enter with the Yorkshire Pass.
