Record breaking April for Yorkshire Tourism

Fountains AbbeyFigures show that Yorkshire’s tourism industry had a record breaking April, and the Yorkshire Attractions looked to have received more visitors than ever.

It is thought that the great weather and bank holidays in April played a big part in the successful month. Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, Gary Verity said that figures for 2011 in this period compared to 2010, were of “a double digit increase”.

The numbers visiting Fountains Abbey, Beningbrough Hall and many other attractions in the area are said to be a lot higher than those previously in April 2010.
