An exciting new tourist attraction could be heading to the city of York. A brand new £2 million chocolate themed attraction will help celebrate the city’s chocolate manufacturing heritage.

The Sweet History of York will allow visitors to see into the fascinating manufacturing process of chocolate and confectionary through a museum that could be run as a joint venture with Nestle.

The attraction has been thought up by Continuum, the same people who set up the JORVIK Viking centre and would be located on Kings Street, with three floors and 6,400 square feet of room.

If planning permission is granted, the brand new attraction could open in spring 2012 and provide a big boost to the economy as well as jobs. It would also be beneficial to tourism as the attraction will stay open in the evening unlike many others.
