Monster Attraction at the Yorkshire Museum

The fossil of the biggest sea monster that has ever been found in Britain, has been restored and put on display for the public to see. The fossil is of a giant ichthyosaur and is over 180 million years old. It is 8 metres long and would have swum in the tropical waters in North Yorkshire.Yorkshire Museum

The ichthyosaur was found in the Jurassic rocks near Whitby which is known for its rare fossil discoveries and was found by the Yorkshire Philosophical Society. The fossil will now go on display at the Yorkshire Museum where it will be examined by Isla Gladstone a Curator of Natural Science and will also be available for the public to see.

This is a great reason to buy a Yorkshire Pass as it will give you access to the Yorkshire Museum to see the fossil which they are calling their Monster Attraction and it will also include entries to other museums and top attractions in Yorkshire.
