For 30 years the volunteers of the Royal Observer Corps watched for nuclear Armageddon.

At a time of crisis 60 men and women would be entombed within 'No 20 Group Control' ready to plot nuclear explosions and radioactive fallout across Yorkshire. Inside, the brutal concrete structure is a chilling Cold War time capsule where original monitoring and communications equipment sit alongside the necessities of life; a canteen, a dormitory and support systems designed to last just 30 days. Visits are by guided tour, lasting one hour, enhanced by a striking 10-minute film (PG rated) telling the story of the Cold War.

Last tour is one hour before closing.
