Visit JORVIK Viking Centre and experience one of the most famous and astounding discoveries of modern archaeology.

Between the years 1976-81 archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust unearthed over 40,000 Viking-Age artefacts revealing the houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik. These incredible findings enabled them to build the JORVIK Viking Centre on the very site where the excavations had taken place, creating an authentic, groundbreaking visitor experience.

Explore the Viking-Age city as you travel onboard our state-of-the-art capsules. Encounter the citizens that lived there, see inside their houses and backyards and experience all the sights, sounds and smells of Jorvik.
